Since 1891, Aceto Balsamico del Duca has been dedicated to the production and promotion of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena IGP and Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena DOP. A tradition that has been handed down for 5 generations, closely linked to the territory, which guarantees a unique product, obtained from selected and high-quality cooked grape musts, and exclusively Italian wine vinegar. The Balsamic Vinegar is aged in wooden barrels and its quality derives from a special selection of raw materials and the aging process.
The company was founded in 1891, when Adriano Grosoli opens the Premiata Salumeria, a delicatessen, registering his business with the Modena Chamber of Commerce. Right from the start, the company stands out for its quality, already recognized in February 1927 in Genoa, on the occasion of the International Exhibition, during which the Adriano Grosoli is awarded with the "Grand Prize Diploma and Gold Medal for special processing of traditional products".
The turning point comes in the 70s, when Adriano, the third generation of the family, decides to devote himself exclusively to the production of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena and, together with his wife Luciana, chooses to distinguish the product with the image of Duke Francesco I d' Este, one of the most famous and passionate producers of the Balsamic Vinegar highly appreciated at the Este court.
In the 80s, the management of the company passes into the hands of the daughter Mariangela and, today, the historic site of Via Medicine 2340 in Spilamberto (Modena) is dedicated to the aging of the precious Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena DOP and preserves hundreds of precious barrels. It is precisely here that visitors who wish to know the secrets of this unique product are led to the discovery of black gold, entering a fascinating and evocative place, with barrels still full of Balsamic. In the more modern facility, on the other hand, in addition to a functional office building and a shop for direct sales, there are the impressive oak barrels for the maturation of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena IGP and the production lines.
In 2016, Aceto del Duca reaches a double goal: on the occasion of its 125th anniversary, it is fully admitted to the register of the Italian Centenary Companies Union.
In 2018, Lucia, Mariangela’s daughter and 90-year-old Adriano’s granddaughter, representative of the fifth generation, joins the company.
Finally, in 2021, the company celebrates its 130th anniversary and, on June 2, Adriano Grosoli is forged the title of Knight of the Italian Republic by President Mattarella.
